Rock with Raja was a concert held at Chennai Island with the participation of composer Ilayaraja. Ilayaraja participated in the show and started the show by singing the first song ‘Janani ..Janani’.
Talking about his experience in screen music tour between songs, Ilayaraja thanked the Government of Tamil Nadu Tourism for giving permission to hold a concert at the Island Stadium. He added, “The singer did not have the word to remember SBP. Balasubramaniam and I went to many states like Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Maharashtra with harmonium box and sang. The disappearance of Lata Mangeshkar is sad.” 
Actor Dhanush, Gangai Amaran, Singer Mano, SBP Charan, composer Yuvan Shankar Raja and others were present on the occasion.
After some of the singers sang ‘Ennulle … Ennulle …’ on stage, Ilayaraja told actor Dhanush, who was sitting in front of the stage, to stand up. This song came out well because your father-in-law. Dhanush smiled and applauded as he said that the song came out better because of Rajinikanth’s taste and the context of the scene.
Dhanush was accompanied by his two sons on the occasion. Not only Ilayaraja but also singer Mano, composer Yuvan Shankar Raja and singer Pavatharini sang the songs. 
More than 10,000 people attended, with entrance fees ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1 lakh per spectator. Popcorn sold for 100 rupees and tea for 30 rupees.
