Chairman of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Noor Mohammad Majumdar said that the traffic congestion on the roads and highways was less this time. Accidents have also decreased. Compared to some years, this year’s Eid journey has been relaxed.
He said these things to reporters after observing the overall situation of Gabtali Bus Terminal on Wednesday (April 10).
Chairman of BRTA came to Gabtali around 11:30 am. At this time, he spoke to a few counters and several passengers. However, he did not receive any allegations of irregularities.
After the observation, BRTA Chairman Noor Mohammad Majumder said in response to the questions of the journalists that there are no passengers in Gabtali on the seventh day of Eid Yatra. Compared to the last few years, this year’s Eid journey has been much safer and more comfortable. Traffic jams and accidents were less this time. We are working towards making the return journey as smooth as possible.
Noor Mohammad Majumdar said that there was traffic jam on the road for the last two days due to garment holidays. Somewhere the bus is moving slowly. Out of many transports, two to four transports tried to overcharge. Action has been taken against them.
In response to the question that BRTA has decided to increase the fare in the chart, he said that recently the price of fuel oil has decreased by Tk 3 in two phases. Taking that into consideration, the fare has been reduced by 3 paise per kilometer. We have updated the fare list at each counter.
