“Although the candidates who took the matriculation exams this year filed a third more appeals than last year, when their papers were re-evaluated, the results changed in 59 cases, similar to the number in 2023. Such a comparison only once again testifies to the high-quality work of the evaluators”, says Aidas Aldakauskas, who is temporarily acting as the director of the NŠA.

The largest number of appeals were submitted regarding the results of the Lithuanian language and literature exam (478 appeals), the mathematics exam (162 appeals) and the foreign language (English) exam (50 appeals). This year, 12 appeals were submitted by candidates who took the state exam for the Polish national minority’s mother tongue and literature for the first time.

Compared to last year, when a total of 532 appeals were submitted, the number of appeals submitted for Lithuanian language and literature, 51 for mathematics and 29 for biology exams increased by 188. The number of foreign language (English) appeals is similar to last year: 2023. there were 48, and this year – 50. Appeals decreased due to the results of information technology and history exams.

After examining the works of the candidates submitted for appeal, 7.3 percent from all submitted appeals, the evaluations of works have changed (in 2023, the number of changed evaluations of works was 9.3 percent of all works submitted for appeals). After the review of appeals, the evaluations both increased and decreased: out of 59 works whose evaluations changed, the evaluations of 45 works increased, and the evaluations of 14 works decreased.

Graduates can find their results after appeals in the matriculation examination results announcement system https://rezultatai.nsa.smm.lt. Candidates can log in to the system with the student identification (ID) number and password received from the school. When connecting to the system, you need to enter the student ID number (it consists of 7 digits) in the login name field. Enter the last four digits of the candidate’s personal code in the password box.

Candidates who participated in the matriculation exam session could submit an appeal to the head of the school within 2 working days from the day the exam results were announced, requesting that the work be reviewed and re-evaluated.

It is recommended to file an appeal regarding the evaluation of the exam in the event that the candidate, having familiarized himself with the results of his work and the virtual copy of the completed state matriculation exam work, was reasonably convinced that the evaluation was incorrect. The evaluators also carefully reviewed the candidates’ works and the appeal arguments presented in their applications.

This year, about 2,500 evaluators evaluated the papers of the state matriculation exams. Each paper was evaluated by two evaluators. If their evaluations did not match, the senior evaluator or the chairman of the evaluation commission was used. In this way, the objective is to ensure the most objective assessment of the candidates’ work.

The matriculation certificate is issued to the candidate only after receiving the results of appeals, and the result of the appeal in a separate document submitted together with the matriculation certificate. The results of appeals are final and irrevocable.
