The Northern Irish actor Ray Stevenson (“Rome”, “The Boat”) is dead. His agency confirmed to the German Press Agency that he died on the Italian island of Ischia on Sunday. She did not provide any further information. Stevenson was 58 years old. The trade magazine “Deadline” recently reported that Stevenson will play the leading role in the film “Cassino in Ischia”.
Stevenson had his breakthrough as an actor with a leading role as a Roman legionnaire in the TV series “Rome” (2005-2007), later he was among other things in several “Thor” film adaptations as Volstagg, one of the best friends of the eponymous Marvel hero see.
As the musketeer Porthos in “The Three Musketeers” (2011) alongside Matthew Macfadyen and Logan Lerman, he thwarted the scheming Christoph Waltz, in “Vikings” (2020) he played the mysterious seafarer Othere.
