Jeddah: Saudi men must register their marriages with foreign women. The lawyer warned that if the marriage is not registered in the country, a fine of up to one lakh riyals will be imposed.
Lawyer Shaima Al Thaqafi warned against brokers who facilitate irregular marriages abroad. She was speaking to the Saudi-owned MBC television channel. Shaima Al Thaqafi revealed that such mediators facilitate some Saudi men to marry foreigners.
‘Don’t cheat on marriage in such a random way. “Marriage is a life project that affects one’s future, family and children,” said Shaima Al Thaqafi.
“These irregular marriages have social and economic consequences. The lawyer warned against fraud and blackmail related to such marriages. She stressed the importance of getting the marriage officially registered.
