jpnn.comJAKARTA – The Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) stated that there are other paths that citizens can take to advance as candidates in the Pilkada contest, other than through Political Parties. PDIP invites citizens who do not want to follow political education at PDIP to advance through the independent path.

“If someone does not want to use a political party, is that okay? Yes. But through an independent path. The main task of a political party is to conduct political education. The main task of a political party is to organize members, organize the masses. The task of a political party is to train and educate prospective leaders, and assign prospective leaders to political positions,” said PDIP DPP Chairman Djarot Saiful Hidajat after attending the announcement of the third wave of PDIP regional head candidates at the PDIP DPP Office, Jakarta, Monday (26/3).

According to Djarot, in the Pilkada there is a contestation battle involving Political Parties to prepare regional leader candidates. Djarot reminded that in this democratic system, the main pillar is the Political Party.

“If you ask, is PDI Pejuangan consistent? Yes, we are trying to advance those candidates from our Party. Even if there are none from our Party, it is difficult, right? Can retired soldiers join? Yes. Can retired ASN join? Yes. But they join the Political Party and become part of the Political Party family for us to carry out the consolidation process, the cadre process, the political education process,” said Djarot.

Djarot also mentioned why PDIP has not announced its champion in the Jakarta gubernatorial election. He asked all parties to be patient even though PDIP is left alone by other political parties.

“Just wait for 1-2 days. Because on the 29th (August) we have registered,” said Djarot.

Djarot also responded to questions from media crews who said that Anies Baswedan was already at the PDIP DPP Office, but why was he not announced as a candidate by General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri. According to Djarot, Anies’ arrival was nothing more than a visit, especially to former Banten Governor Rano Karno.

“PDI Perjuangan always builds communication and dialogue. Indeed, we saw that Mr. Anies came to Building B to meet with Si Dul, Bang Rano. Is that right? Bung Rano Karno. You have to remember that Mr. Rano, Bung Rano is the Governor of Banten. Deputy Governor of Banten. Mr. Anies is the Governor of DKI. How can the Governor of DKI and the Governor of Banten not have a discussion? It is allowed, right? It is allowed. So in order to foster friendship, to discuss what DKI will actually be like in the future? Exchange experiences,” said Djarot.

PDIP invites citizens who do not want to take part in political education at PDIP to run as independents.
