As Russia’s war on Ukraine continues for the 22nd day, Russian artillery shells the theater where thousands of people have taken refuge. The Ukrainian government has strongly condemned the military attack on a populated area.
Ukraine-Russia war:
Russia has declared war on Ukraine in protest of joining the US – led NATO. The attack, which began on February 24, has been going on for more than 20 days. And as the third phase of the ceasefire talks approaches, accusations are mounting that Russian forces are targeting civilians.
Theater Attack:
Russian troops have bombed a theater in the Mariupol area where thousands of people have taken refuge. In this regard, the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Pavlo Krylengo, accused the Russians of plotting to attack the Ukrainian people.
Ukraine’s foreign minister tweeted: “Russian forces have carried out another atrocity in Mariupol. Russia has destroyed the theater where thousands of innocent civilians took refuge. The Russians may not have been aware that people were staying here. Detain Russian war criminals.”
Putin is a war criminal:
Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden has publicly described Putin as a “war criminal” who said Russian forces were attacking hospitals in Ukraine, adding that he would provide weapons and assist Ukraine in launching a strong fight against Russia in the war.
7000 Russian soldiers killed:
Meanwhile, the New York Times reported that 7,000 Russian soldiers had been killed in the three-week war. But the Ukrainian side says they have so far defeated 14,000 Russian soldiers in the war. But the Russian Defense Ministry said only 498 soldiers had died in three weeks. A recent report in the British media stated that Russia had requested military assistance from countries such as Syria.
