Thousands March Towards Jerusalem in Protest Against Legal Revolution

by time news

Tens of thousands of demonstrators are marching towards the capital as they continue their protest against the legal revolution. Their goal is to arrive at the Mithir Bridge at 7:30 p.m. and then march towards the Knesset building for a huge demonstration planned for this evening. Major General Dan Harel will be joining the marchers, stating, “We are not going to give up.”

The protest march began spontaneously on Tuesday at the end of the “Night of Resistance” protests in Tel Aviv. The first night was spent in Ariel Sharon Park, followed by a night in Kibbutz Nachshon. Yesterday, the marchers continued on Route 1, causing heavy traffic congestion on the way to Jerusalem.

Currently, the marchers are in the Moshav Shoresh area and this morning were joined by other demonstrators at Gesher Hamad. They are expected to reach the Knesset at 7:45 p.m. After the demonstration, they plan to set up a “tent city” outside the tabernacle and stay to sleep in Jerusalem.

To accommodate the protests, the police announced road closures in Jerusalem. Tonight, streets such as Herzl, Rabin, Zusman, Ben Zvi, Ramban, Hanasi, Gaza, and Arlozorov will be closed as needed. The entrance route to Jerusalem towards the Rope Bridge will also be partially blocked. Tomorrow, Kaplan, Sussman, Gaza, Rabin Street, and Rupin Street will be closed to vehicular traffic at different times.

In an unusual move, retired judges are also joining the protest march. Retired judge Saviona Roteloi wrote a letter inviting other retired judges to participate in the march. The purpose of their involvement is to show support for the court system and democratic values.

The Artillery Corps fighters participating in the protest published a video featuring former Deputy Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Dan Harel, urging others to go to Jerusalem. The Artillery protest leaders emphasized the importance of opposing the government’s actions and preventing the legislation that would harm democracy.

Major General Harel echoed the message in his video, highlighting the crucial point in the battle for reasonableness. He called on everyone to join the march and make a difference in preventing the harmful legislation.

The reservists’ protest group, “Brothers in Arms,” will hold a press conference tonight regarding the continuation of volunteering for the reserves. Demonstrations are also planned in front of Defense Minister Yoav Galant’s home and at various locations throughout the country.

The protest against the legal revolution shows no signs of slowing down as tens of thousands of demonstrators march towards Jerusalem. Their determination to uphold democracy and prevent harmful legislation is fueling their continued efforts.
