Thousands of people began this Saturday the 49th Youth Pilgrimage to Luján, which started from the sanctuary of San Cayetano, in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Liniers, until arriving on Sunday at the Basilica of Luján, in the province of Buenos Aires, on a walk of more than 60 kilometers that has a special support operation.
After 10 o’clock the procession formally began, although in the early hours of the morning many attendees began to gather in front of the church and others to begin the walk towards Luján; Even since Friday night there were pilgrims from Morón and Ituzaingó who left along Rivadavia Avenue towards Luján.

The parish priest of the sanctuary of San Cayetano, Lucas Arguimbau, was in charge of blessing the departure of the Virgin, which was carried by four young people from a parish in La Matanza.
The archbishop of Buenos Aires and primate of Argentina, Jorge Ignacio García Cuerva, assured that the pilgrimage “is lived with this deep longing to ask Mary to give us strength to unite.”
”The pilgrimage is a beautiful act of popular faith that moves us, makes us feel like a people, that we walk for the same ideal. We are in a difficult situation, we need unity as a people,” Father Gustavo Carrara told Télam, who said that he is going on a pilgrimage to give thanks for the fact that 50 years ago he was baptized in the Basilica of Luján.
To assist walkers on a cold but sunny day, the Archbishopric of Buenos Aires prepared more than 60 health posts with 6,000 servers at those points, while the Argentine Red Cross had 11 health posts along provincial route No. 7 and AySA set up a special assistance operation with drinking water for all the faithful who participated in the procession with 4 hydration stations and 13 trucks.
