During a mass rally on Saturday evening in Tel Aviv, they demanded the immediate release of all Israel after controversy over anti-Semitism”>hostages taken from Israel to the Palestinian territory and the holding of new elections. “Whoever left them to their fate must bring them home,” chanted the crowd, referring to Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu, whom many Israelis have criticized for the Oct. 7 coup. Hamas blames the massacre on colossal mistakes. Relatives of the hostages also accuse the prime minister and his government of showing no serious interest in reaching an agreement with the Islamist Hamas movement.
Israel and Hamas have been in indirect negotiations for months on a ceasefire and the release of hostages. There is currently no breakthrough in the negotiations.
According to Israeli media, thousands of people protested in Tel Aviv and Haifa on Saturday night, and hundreds in the city of Beersheba. Over a thousand protesters also reportedly gathered in Caesarea near Netanyahu’s private villa. Rallies were also held in other Israeli cities.
A few weeks ago, Israel believed that of the approximately 130 hostages in the Gaza Strip, nearly 100 were still alive. However, it is now feared that many more may be dead.
