A crowd of several thousand Italians marched last Sunday in Italy, they marched with fascist symbols and sang songs from Italy’s colonial era, the fascists celebrated the centenary of Mussolini’s arrival in Rome. On October 28, 1922, fascists in black shirts entered the Italian capital, and started support marches that reached their peak two days later, when the King of Italy gave Mussolini the mandate to form a new government.

The organizers warned the participants, who came from Rome, Belgium and the United States, not to break the law, and not to hold the march in the styles that the fascists did 100 years ago, otherwise they would risk prosecution.

Still, some could not help themselves, as the crowd stopped outside the cemetery where Mussolini was laid to rest to hear prayers and blessings from Mussolini’s granddaughter, Ursula, Italian media reported. “After 100 years, still here to pay respect to a man that the country still does not stop admiring,” said Ursula Mussolini to the cheers of the fascists.

Inside the cemetery on Sunday, fans of the Italian dictator who collaborated with Hitler lined up to enter his tent, each given a memorial card signed by his granddaughters, with a picture of a smiling Mussolini holding his hand up in a Roman salute. “History will prove me right,” the card read.
