LONDON: The body of Queen Elizabeth II left Balmoral Palace on its final journey through the countryside of Scotland. A journey of more than six hours from Balmoral Palace will end at Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh. Here the public will have an opportunity to pay their last respects to the Queen.

Queen Elizabeth’s body departed in a royal carriage draped with the Royal Scots Standard flag and decorated with wreaths. This vehicle left Balmoral Palace at ten o’clock British time this morning, traveled through the suburbs of Aberdeen, passed Dundee and Queensferry Crossing and took about six hours to arrive at Holyrood House Palace, the official residence in Edinburgh. Many people who loved the Queen dearly could be seen waiting to catch a glimpse of her throughout the journey.

The entire journey through the Scottish countryside was captured on helicam and broadcast live. The Queen’s body will be taken in procession from Holyrood Palace to St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh on Monday morning. There it will be kept for public viewing for the next 24 hours and the next day the body will be transported from the cathedral by road to Edinburgh Airport and from there by air to RAF Northolt Airport. From there, the body will be taken by road again to Buckingham Palace. You can leave the rest of the funeral in London.
