The Threads application, produced by Meta to rival Twitter, has already surpassed 100 million registered users, according to Search Engine Journal. The survey was based on a count of the symbols that appear on Instagram profiles, when people associate accounts on both social networks.
The milestone was reached within about five days of launching the app. By way of comparison, ChatGPT took at least two months to reach 100 million followers and TikTok took nine months.
Meta shares were up 0.62% in New York at 3:38 pm (Brasília time). The movement occurs against peers in the technology sector, which operate under strong downward pressure.
