With just a few days to go before the start of the 15th IPL season, only the Bangalore team is yet to announce the new captain of the team.
The 15th IPL season of 2022 is scheduled to start on the 26th and end on the 29th of May. Following the addition of 2 new teams in this IPL tournament, the 10 teams were divided into 2 teams and the recent schedule was released. Each of these teams competes in 14 league matches.
Subsequently each team is given an update for that day. The newly added Ahmedabad and Lucknow teams have also announced their captains. But the existing Bangalore team is not the only one to announce a new captain since the start of the IPL.
Virat Kohli, who has been playing for the Bangalore team since its inception, has also been the captain for the last 7 years. But he never won the IPL trophy. The captain stepped down with the season last year due to the pressure caused by this. This raises the question of who will be the captain of the Bangalore team in the current IPL series.
With just a few more weeks to go, the Bangalore team is stumbling as all the teams prepare to face the tournament with their captains. Meanwhile, it has been reported that 3 people are being considered for the captaincy post in the team. It is said that there was a delay in the captaincy due to that.
Accordingly, Glenn Maxwell of Australia, Du Plessis of South Africa and Dinesh Karthik of Tamil Nadu are being considered for the captaincy by the team’s management team. The Bangalore team believes that both Australian Glenn Maxwell and South African Du Plessis have experience leading the team.
Similarly, Dinesh Karthik played for the RCB team in the 2015 IPL. His name is also under consideration as he is captaining the Kolkata team. However, Glenn Maxwell has announced that he will not be participating in the IPL until April 6, ahead of his wedding. Thus the problem arose in recommending his name to the captaincy.
In this case, the senior RCB team official said, “We have a lot of players who are needed for the captaincy. All are very talented captains. Dinesh knows Kohli and RCB well. Maxwell has been on our team for a year. Similarly Du Plessis was a fantastic captain of South Africa. But we have to decide who is best for us. Information about the captaincy selection will come soon. ”
