The Minister of the Interior, Juan Carlos Bidegain, reported that between September 21 and 22, various emergencies were attended to due to the rains that hit the country, resulting in three minors being injured.
The first case that was recorded was the collapse of a wall in Ciudad Barrios, in San Miguel, where a two-year-old girl had to be intervened by the rescue teams; in addition, the president of the National Commission for Civil Protection, indicated that two other minors were swept away by a current in a residential area in Santa Ana.
“Everyone is fine, they were treated and we did not have to regret any tragedy with these three minors,” added the official. Bidegain reported that since last Friday they have been on alert for the possible increase in rainfall and so the preventive and reactive plan has been put in place.
To date, the Government maintains 170 shelters equipped with the capacity to house more than 9,500 people, “offering safe and equipped spaces for those who are in a vulnerable situation,” said the official, adding that a fleet of vehicles has been made available with the capacity to evacuate more than 2,000 people simultaneously.
