Thalassery> Three children of a folklore group who were selling balloons fell on the Jagannath temple roof. Two were rescued by police but one child drowned. The deceased has been identified as Khona (7), daughter of Gopi and Mamta of Rainwala, Jaipur, Rajasthan. Shivani (9), daughter of Rajesh-Forranti couple, was arrested by Kannur Govt. Admitted to Medical College. One child was left with first aid.
The accident happened around 5.30 pm on Tuesday. The family was selling balloons for the Jagannath Temple Festival. The children accidentally fell into the pool while playing. The rest of the folk group was cooking. Police on special duty for the festival rushed to the pool on time and handcuffed the two. It was too late to get the dead child out. The body is in the General Hospital mortuary. The family said he would be flown home Wednesday after the post-mortem.
