Three Coachella trends we’ll be seeing at every festival this summer | show

Coachella is no longer just about the music. The favorite festival of influencers and models has grown in recent years into a fashion show where the trends for the upcoming festival season are set. These are three trends that were spotted in the California desert this year.

The days of floral crowns and bright boho outfits are over. This year, the 90s reign on the festival site. The youngest generation of festival goers is inspired by the skater and grunge style as we knew it from pop stars such as Gwen Stefani and Aaliyah. But we also see influences from the 1970s with crochet dresses and denim on denim looks.

With side pockets

This summer we can’t ignore it. The parachute pants – or cargo pants – are back. The wider, the better and preferably with pockets on the side.

Crochet; hook into it

Crochet has always been present at Coachella, but this year this 1970s crochet trend remarkably reigns supreme. Once worn by hippie girls as a symbol of freedom and rebellion, crochet is once again a popular way to express yourself this year. Expect a lot of crocheted tops, dresses and bags, sometimes with a glitter.

Denim on denim

Like the cargo pants and crochet top, this trend has as many haters as lovers. Dubbed the “Canadian tuxedo,” denim on denim had its heyday in the 1970s and 1980s, but has been making a comeback every decade since. During the international fashion weeks we already saw complete denim suits on the catwalk this year and at Coachella an overdose of denim is also embraced. An additional advantage: this trend lends itself perfectly to the idea that your clothing should recycle more. With a pair of old jeans and a good sewing machine, you can put together your own eco-friendly Coachella look this year.
