Independence, OR – Three people are dead after a single-engine plane crashed north of Hoffman Road in Independence on Saturday night, according to the Independence Police Department.

The crash occurred at 4:55 p.m. on Saturday, and resulted in downed power lines, a brush fire, and a power outage. It is not yet clear what caused the crash.

The names of the deceased have not been released by the police.

As a result of the crash, Hoffman Road near the Stryker Road and Polk Street intersection is closed.

The crash also caused a power outage, with at least 375 customers without power in Independence. Pacific Power estimates that power will be restored before 11 p.m. on Saturday.

The Independence Police Department and the Federal Aviation Administration are currently investigating the incident.
