TThree people, including two mountaineers and an extreme sports enthusiast, died on Saturday in Isère, we learned from rescue workers on Sunday.

Help was called by a Dutch hiker who discovered two bodies at the foot of a cliff in the valley of Bonne Pierre in the town of Saint-Christophe-en-Oisans, said the PGHM (high mountain gendarmerie platoon) of Isere.

Two mountaineers, aged 31 and 33, unscrewed in the Meyer-Dibona route, on the north face of the Dôme des Neiges des Écrins, before falling several hundred meters, said the PGHM.

The two bodies were transported by a civil security helicopter.

A 31-year-old base jumper (parachute jump from a high fixed point) was also killed on Saturday.

The man had sprung up in a wingsuit (winged suit) from the northeast face of the Grande Tête de l’Obiou in the Trièves and hit the cliff before his sail opened, according to the PGHM.

His body was transported at the end of the day on Saturday by a civil security helicopter.
