The Alpes-Maritimes, Haute-Corse and Corse-du-Sud will face strong thunderstorms and very heavy showers during the day on Monday.

The weather will still be unstable on Monday August 28 in the South-East and towards the Pyrenees, more variable elsewhere, according to Météo-France which has issued orange vigilance for thunderstorms in the Alpes-Maritimes and Corsica. The Alpes-Maritimes will be on orange vigilance for thunderstorms and rain-flooding, Corse-du-Sud on orange vigilance for thunderstorms and waves-submersion, while Haute-Corse will only be on orange vigilance for thunderstorms, specifies Météo-France .
Sometimes moderate rain will linger on the alpine relief. They will take on a stormy character from the Alpes-Maritimes to Corsica with again good accumulations locally. In the Northern Alps, the rain/snow limit will drop to around 2,200 m. In the vicinity of the Pyrenees, the weather will also be unstable with frequent showers, especially in the morning. Elsewhere, the sky will hesitate between clouds and clearings with more scattered showers.
Mistral and tramontane will blow quite strong to strong on the South-East with gusts of 90 to 110 km/h near the coasts. On Corsica, it is the westerly wind which will reach 100/110 km/h in peaks on the relief and the extremities of the island. In the afternoon, strong waves are expected on Corse-du-Sud with a risk of submersion of the coasts.

In terms of temperatures, the minimums will range from 10 to 16 degrees in general, up to 17 to 20 degrees on the southern shores. In the afternoon, it will be locally 16 to 19 degrees in the east, 19 to 26 degrees elsewhere, up to 27 to 29 degrees in eastern Corsica.
