Bus Stop Chain Collision on Yishun Avenue 2

The afternoon commute in Yishun turned chaotic when a public bus rear-ended another vehicle, triggering a multi-bus pileup. The incident unfolded on Thursday afternoon at approximately 3:05 pm outside Block 790 Yishun Avenue 2. Stomper Daniyal, passing by the scene at about 3:34 pm, captured video footage showing an SBS Transit vehicle mounted on the kerb with extensive damage to its rear and shattered windows, while Stomper Complain_zai shared pictures showing the Tower Transit bus stopped in the middle of three lanes with significant front damage and a shattered windscreen.

A Tower Transit bus operating service 853 struck the rear of an SBS Transit bus on service 852. That initial impact pushed the second vehicle forward into a third public bus operating SBS Transit service 851. Social media footage from the area showed significant front-end damage to the Tower Transit vehicle while one of the SBS Transit buses mounted the pedestrian kerb with a shattered rear window and scattered debris across the tarmac.

Emergency Response and Hospital Transport

The Singapore Civil Defence Force dispatched ambulances to the site after receiving an alert at 3:05 pm. Paramedics treated the wounded on the pavement before transferring three passengers to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital for further care. Two additional individuals suffered minor injuries but declined transport to the hospital.

Despite the severity of the crash and the debris, authorities noted that the road remained passable to traffic while emergency crews cleared the wreckage.

Operator Apology and Ongoing Investigations

Tower Transit issued a public statement addressing the disruption and reaching out to those affected by the afternoon crash. Company representatives stated that they were working to contact the hospitalized passengers to provide assistance. Tower Transit posted updates on Facebook at 4:14 pm and subsequently at 4:55 pm.
