Israel’s men’s and women’s delegations at the European Windsurfing Championships, with three skiers securing their place today (Saturday) in the medal cruises that will take place on Sunday. Yoav Omer, Daniela Peleg and Shachar Tibi managed to take the place in the top ten and hope to continue one step further and possibly return home with a medal.

Yoav Omar, who started the four cruises today in place 12, knew that he had to ascend in order to succeed and be among the top ten. Omar did deliver the goods with his good four-row streak in the competition. He finished fifth in the first two cruises of the day, seventh in the third cruise and even won the last cruise of the competition. The result brought him to fifth place overall. Tom Reuben also went into the water with an excellent sequence of cruises (3,15,5,3), which advanced him from 17th to 12th place, but out of tomorrow’s medal cruising.

In women the young Daniela Peleg, who shone yesterday with a break into fifth place overall, performed a lukewarm day of cruises (places 35,11,23,19), which dropped her to eighth place overall, but ensured her participation in the medal cruises tomorrow.

The one who kept alert in the women’s team until the last minute was Shahar Tibi, who went out to water today with two excellent cruises, in first and fifth places. The last two cruises of the day did not brighten the face of the Israeli surfer, with places 45 and 39, and uncertainty about her integration in the top ten. After a long tension in the Israeli team, the final results were published, which placed it in tenth place, only one point away from the Spanish fleet, which followed.
