Beijing, March 4. (time.news/Dpa/Europa Press) – Three organizers of the Tiananmen vigil in Hong Kong have been found guilty of failing to cooperate with the police during an investigation into alleged violations of the national security law by the group they belong to, the Hong Kong Alliance in support of democratic patriotic movements in China.

The convicted are former Alliance vice chairman Chow Hang Tung and former group committee members Tsui Hon Kwong and Tang Ngok Kwan, all three accused of refusing to inform police about news concerning the organization, such as who they are the donors of the group, where its finances come from and what its activities are. It is the third conviction for Chow Hang Tung, who has been tried twice for participating in an unauthorized assembly and faces yet another trial for trying to overthrow state power through the organization’s activities.

Since 1989, the group has organized a commemoration in Hong Kong’s Victoria Park every June for the events that took place between mid-April and June in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square, where the Chinese authorities repressed a series of protests initially led by students, an event especially remembered in territories such as Hong Kong and Macao.
