Nitzan Horowitz, the Minister of Health and senior officials of the Ministry of Health, convened a press conference tonight (Sunday). The head of the public health services, Dr. Sharon Elrai Price, updated that England, Denmark and Belgium have become red for fear of the spread of variant Omicron in Israel.

Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz said at the press conference that: “So far this is 55 verified to Omicron. Most of them are returning from abroad or those who have come in contact. Israel is in good shape than the rest of the world. We have taken in countries that no country has done and the results are in front of you. We act with discretion, and with the understanding that the spread of the omicron cannot be prevented, but it is possible to buy time for data collection and immunization. ”

Elarei Price added: “There is a widespread spread in the world within two weeks. In South Africa it is tens of thousands. The morbidity in South Africa is easier and there is less mortality. It is just the beginning, we do not know if it really indicates the lesser lethality of the variant or it is just the beginning.” And as stated claimed that within three days three more countries would join the list of red countries: England, Belgium and Denmark.

The director general of the Ministry of Health, Prof. Nachman Ash, warned that anyone planning a trip abroad may find himself in isolation when he returns.

Under the new regulations regarding the green classroom, the model will not apply to a classroom where two verified students have been verified, this scenario constitutes about 5% of the reported cases. If there is one student verified, the students will perform a PCR test on the third day as well. The model will not apply in a case where a student has been verified in class with a suspicion of infection with the omicron strain. In situations where the green classroom model is not activated, vaccinated students will be able to learn frontally, and non-vaccinated students will learn by distance learning.
