The three people prosecuted for murder after a clash which left one dead at the exit of a discotheque in the Vosges, Sunday, were placed in pre-trial detention and indicted, announced the prosecutor of Epinal, Frédéric Nahon, Tuesday August 29.
The investigating judge of the criminal center of Epinal proceeded to the indictment “counts of assassination and attempted assassination” of the three people who were presented to him, Mr. Nahon said in a press release.
A total of nine people were affected early Sunday morning when a car drove into two groups of pedestrians 200 meters apart in the town of Charmes. A 17-year-old boy from Meuse died at the scene, while another victim, aged 19, was still between life and death on Monday.
Two of the three suspects, aged 21, 22 and 25 and from the department, were known to the courts for narcotics cases, the prosecution said on Monday during a press conference.
“Many of the testimonies collected by the investigators confirm that the vehicle deliberately drove into the groups of people at high speed while they were on the sidewalk”, had observed Mr. Nahon. The analyzes have also “revealed the presence of alcohol, (…) about one gram per liter of blood”had confirmed the prosecution, which reported “traces of narcotics for two” suspects.
