Lucknow won the toss and chose to bowl. Batting first in the Chennai team, openers Ruduraj Gaikwad and Conway scattered the bowling of the Lucknow team. Gaekwad, who continued to show action, scored 57 runs in 31 balls. Conway was dismissed for 47 runs and Bn Vanda Dubey for 27 runs.

The players who came later were dismissed for few runs. In the end Pooran got out after scoring 32 runs off 18 balls. In the end, the Lucknow team lost 205 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Moeen Ali took 4 wickets and Dushar Deshpande took 2 wickets for Chennai team.
