Throne Day: Royal speech outlines a roadmap for water policy in Morocco (associative actor)

Guelmim – The speech, addressed by HM King Mohammed VI to the Nation on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the glorious feast of the throne, outlined a roadmap for water policy in Morocco, said the president of the Ombre d’Argan association for development and human solidarity, Boubker Ounghir.

Mr. Ounghir indicated, in a statement to MAP, that this is a founding and important speech that has drawn up a roadmap for water policy in order to face the water resources crisis that Morocco is experiencing.

He added that HM the King stressed the importance of water conservation and the need to develop an integrated national strategy to address the problems of drought, water scarcity and climate change.

Mr. Ounghir, who is also a researcher in the history of international relations, stressed that the royal speech called for an update of all national strategies relating to water, specifying that the royal speech invited all actors to take the initiative in order to find innovative solutions to all of these problems.

He also noted that HM the King’s speech also touched upon the importance of dams and the need to implement urgent measures to build new dams, adding that the Sovereign called on public authorities as well as regional and territorial councils to implement seawater desalination projects as one of the innovative ways to address the problem of water shortage.
