jpnn.comHOUSTON – Argentina managed to win a ticket to the 2024 Copa America semifinals after eliminating Ecuador, Friday (5/7/2024).
The Argentina vs Ecuador duel at NRG Stadium, Houston, United States ended with a 1-1 draw in normal time.
Lisandro Martinez scored the opening goal for the Tango Team in the 35th minute.
Starting from a corner kick, Alexis Mac Allister’s pass was met with a header by Lisandro.
Ecuador goalkeeper Alexander Dominguez managed to block it, but the ball still went into the net.
Argentina led 1-0. The score remained that way until halftime.
Entering the second half, Ecuador tried to play more aggressively.
Ecuador had a chance to score a goal through a penalty. The referee pointed to the spot in the 70th minute because he thought Rodrigo De Paul had committed hand ball in the open box.
