Thumb print and family card- Dinamani

by time news

There are 2 crore 23 lakh 29 thousand 655 family cards in Tamil Nadu. A government reference says that there are 34 thousand 790 fair price shops in 39 districts.

Essential food items such as rice, wheat, sugar along with palm oil and groundnut are sold through fair price shops. The Tamil Nadu government spends about Rs.6,500 crore for this. Approximately Rs 5,000 worth of food grains are distributed per family card throughout the year.

Edible oil (palm oil) and groundnut are distributed in ration shops at five times the market price. No one can dispute that this is a model public distribution scheme in India. But at the same time not all family card holders get these benefits.

Once upon a time, people used to look at those who rolled their thumbs and used to say, “Didn’t you get it?” Today, in the name of modern science and technology, registration of fingerprints has become normal. From Aadhaar card to ration card, thumb print is dominant. It is popularly referred to as the method of knowing precisely who the nafs are. In other words, more than one crore people register their thumb prints at ration shops every month.

But, many times in this fingerprint registration system if the right person goes to the ration shop and places his thumb on the machine (biometric), the ration shop employee usually returns your fingerprint as not registered. Again, came back and recorded the line and the machine was not compliant. There is no other way to go to the government’s Aadhaar card registration office and once again the registration process is going on. In the end, only defeat prevails. Then the person’s family card belongs to the ration shop employee.

He buys rice and sugar every month. By reading the text message that comes with the purchase, they will know who the Palmers are and continue this game. If the biometric method is to provide ration items to the right people, then how come only the news of rice smuggling?

In the last few months alone, cases have been registered against 13,008 people for being involved in rice smuggling. Out of this, 113 cases have been registered and arrested under the Gund Act and similar sections of the law.

Starting from ration shop workers and even some officials are complicit in this rice smuggling. If we find those black sheep, the situation will improve to some extent,” says J. Radhakrishnan, Principal Secretary, Department of Food Supply and Consumer Protection.

There should be a change in the distribution system of ration shops. Internet is not working. Simply put an end to the practice of turning people away with the reply that the line is not registered correctly, and that the stock is not available, and the black sheep will not thrive.

If the internet is not working and the line is not registered, you can get the signature and deliver the items with the person’s Aadhaar card or voter ID card. It has been several months since the Ministry of the Department announced in the Legislative Assembly a ration shop for 500 family cards. Even today, the ration shop continues to operate with more than 1,800 family cards.

If there is always a good crowd, people will come to buy things.

Also, no rice; There are people who buy half a kilo of sugar instead. This is where rice smuggling begins. Government should implement what is practically possible.

Even though machines like biometrics have stopped people from asking for prayers earlier, smuggling of food items like rice, palm oil and duram dal has not decreased. On the contrary, qualified consumers are floundering.

Each family card has an Aadhaar link. Also the phone number is attached. You cannot get two family cards with the same NAB. With these reforms, the work of the Internet is complete. Asking you to put your thumb in front of a biometric machine to buy things at the ration shop every month is reminiscent of the criminal lineage era.

A text message is sent to the mobile number linked to the respective family card that the consumer has received the items from the ration shops. A mobile number is provided so that if there is a complaint on delivery, this number can be reported. But most of the time that complaint number is not working.

To eliminate such problems, like 108 for the emergency department and 100 for the police department, there should be a facility to report directly to the State Department of Consumer Affairs that a complaint has been received that no product has been purchased from the fair price shops, but a text message has been received. A mobile number should be given for that.

For those family cardholders who do not buy any goods, the government can provide money for the goods in lieu of the goods. Black sheep will automatically disappear.

Also, a ration shop has only one salesman, who has to post the receipt, weigh the items and deliver them. This is impossible. Especially, women employees also come as sellers.

If a helper is required to carry out the work of licking and weighing the bundle, the ration shop salesperson should pay the helper. But the starting salary of the salesperson is only Rs 15,000. Five years of a pay rise! It is natural to ask how the sellers will act in this way!

Starting from the taluk distribution officer who manages the ration shops, to the co-operative manager, to the revenue inspector, everyone is getting paid as government employees and officials! But the unfairness of not even the government’s minimum wage for the employee working in the ration shop continues in the fair price shops and causes black sheep to grow.
