The Department of Meteorology has predicted thunderstorms with a maximum speed of 60 km over 20 districts of the country.
A warning message issued for the country’s inland river ports till 1pm on Friday (July 12) stated this fear.
A forecast on Friday said, southerly over Rangpur, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogra, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Jessore, Kushtia, Faridpur, Madaripur, Comilla, Noakhali, Barisal, Patuakhali, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet districts. Temporarily gusty or gusty winds of 45 to 60 km per hour may occur from south-west direction.
There may be rain or thundershowers at the same time. The river ports in these areas have been asked to display warning signal number 1.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds may occur over most parts of the country till evening. Also, there may be heavy to very heavy rainfall in some parts of the country. The weather office said that the trend of rain may continue for a few days.
In the meantime, it started drizzling in different areas of Dhaka and surrounding areas from midnight. Again it stops for some time. Then around 5 am it started raining moderately again. Heavy rain started from 6:30. Even though it is morning and afternoon, it is still raining heavily in Dhaka.
