Ticketmaster rules out hackers harming users

The ticketing company Ticketmaster confirmed that a third party, “without authorization and without consent,” accessed and may have obtained information from its database, the agency reported. Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco).

But the firm said in a report that it had been able to prevent the stolen information from affecting consumers, the regulator said.

Ticketmaster said that “credit card numbers, expiration dates and security codes are encrypted, so hackers cannot see them or use them to the detriment of consumers… sensitive and property rights will not be affected.”

Besides, Profeco revealed that to date it has not received any complaints related to this issue, but advice will be provided to those consumers who require it, either through the Consumer Telephone 55 55 68 8722 or in offices.

“It should be noted that since this is a matter of improper disclosure of personal data, it is up to another body to determine any infringement and possible sanctions for the company.”
