Tickets for Eduardo Chillida’s centenary event sold out in hours

The Victoria Eugenia theater has sold out all the seats in just a few hours for the opening ceremony of Eduardo Chillida’s centenary next Wednesday. The Eduardo Chillida – Pilar Belzunce Foundation organizes this central event that will be presented by Anne Igartiburu and Mikel Chillida, grandson of the artist and development director of Chillida Leku. The memory of the San Sebastian sculptor will be commemorated with music, dance, philosophy and art on the same day that marks one hundred years since his birth.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. “and will revolve around the work and thought of an artist with universal values ​​who still has the ability to generate social cohesion through art and thought,” explain its promoters. Lasting approximately two hours, the event will feature a dance show designed by the Metamorphosis Dance company of Iratxe Ansa (2020 National Dance Prize) and Igor Bacovich, musical interventions by Musikene and a performance by the Landarbaso Abesbatza choir with a selection of works made by its director Iñaki Tolaretxipi.

On stage “there will be no shortage of Eduardo Chillida’s own words, put in dialogue with various thinkers, and accompanied by a selection of images of the artist’s works that will be projected on the scenery created for the occasion.” Susana Chillida, daughter of Eduardo Chillida, doctor in Education, documentary filmmaker and writer; Ricardo Pinilla, professor of philosophy at the Pontifical University of Comillas; and Ana María Rabe, professor of philosophy at the University of Antioquia in Medellín, “will talk to celebrate the life and work of the sculptor through his reflections.”

The Ministry of Culture, the Basque Government, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and the town councils of Donostia and Hernani collaborate in the organization.
