“We chose the electronic tickets to have a device that is as efficient as possible. It is an innovation compared to other Olympic Games and that innovation will allow us not to relive situations that we have recently suffered,” Estanguet told the press, although without explicitly citing the incidents of May 28 in Saint-Denis, which went around the world.
In the absence of two exact years for the start of the Games, the former Olympic and world canoe champion, participated this Monday in a ministerial meeting headed by the French president, Emmanuel Macron, in which the preparations for the event and its main challenges, including security, were reviewed.

The French Court of Accounts, alarmed by the security chaos in the Champions League final on May 28, published a report in which it warns that the reinforcement of security in that ceremony is crucial, since, for the first time in the history of the Olympic Games, it is celebrated in an open space and not in a closed area.
“Security is at the heart of concerns”, clarified the head of the Organizing Committee, who explained that the device that will be deployed at the opening ceremony has been discussed for more than a year.
“If it has been decided to do it in Sena, it is because it is possible from the security point of view. The absolute priority is not to take risks neither for the athletes nor for the public”, Estanguet stressed, for whom there are still “things to fine-tune”.
The French government announced that between 7,000 and 11,000 police officers will be deployed daily -except for the opening of the Games- and that there will also be some 17,000 daily private security agents.

In the event, held in Saint-Denis, where the organizational headquarters of the Paris Olympics, The slogan of the Olympic and Paralympic event was unveiled: “Ouvrons Grand les Jeux” (“Let’s open the Games big” in Spanish and “Games Wide Open” in English), a phrase that in French sounds almost the same as the expression popular “let’s open our eyes wide”.
“It contains that notion of action and ambition. Our country has everything to successfully organize these Games, Games that are accessible to the majority, that are spectacular and durable. This slogan was the easiest and most effective,” Estanguet explained.
In this sense, he announced that of the 10 million tickets that will go on sale in phases from December 2022, 10% will be at a modest price of 24 euros and only 8% will be 200 euros or more.
