jpnn.com – JAKARTA โ€“ The series of activities for the 2024 National English Speech Contest for high school students has finished on Sunday, August 11, 2024.

The 2024 National English Speech Contest was held by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), in order to commemorate World Environment Day 2024 and the 79th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence.

This speech contest goes through long stages and tight competition. Participant registration opens on May 2, 2024. The final round is August 11, 2024.

Data from the committee stated that the number of participants was 794 students from 498 high schools, Islamic high schools (MA), and vocational schools (SMK) throughout Indonesia.

The number of participants in the English Speech Contest in the preliminary round is more than the number of schools because one school may register five students as participants.

Of the 794 participants, a selection was carried out and 60 people were filtered from state and private high schools/equivalent schools from all over Indonesia.

The list of Top 60 names was published openly on the account of the Directorate General of Pollution and Environmental Damage Control of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (Ditjen PPKL KLHK) on Instagram.

In the Top 60 preliminary round, which was held on July 27, 2024, each participant presented their speech. Participants chose one theme from three themes determined by the committee. All of them were themed on the environment.
