“Tighten the reins for the unvaccinated”: 3-G becomes 2-G to a large extent

by time news

The federal government was forced to act before today’s crisis summit. From Thursday to Friday, 9,388 new corona infections were reported – an annual high. 356 people were cared for in intensive care units because of Covid-19.

In view of the sharp increase in the number of infections with the governors, the government has decided to tighten the corona measures significantly. As early as next Monday, a 2G regulation will apply in most areas of public life where 3-G has previously applied. This means that, for example, you only come to the restaurant, theater, concerts, sporting event or the hairdresser vaccinated or recovered. Tests should remain possible in the workplace as an alternative, but antigen tests should be replaced by PCR tests as soon as possible.

As far as the phased plan is concerned, tiers 2, 3 and 4 will come into effect simultaneously on Monday.

“The way to break the wave”

Federal Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg (ÖVP) described the situation in the evening press conference as “serious”. “We want to pull the reins tighter for the unvaccinated,” said Schallenberg – also with a view to the Christmas holidays and the tourist season. Buckle up the seat belt in the car, put on a helmet when riding a motorcycle, and vaccination is “simply the seat belt” in the pandemic.

The vaccination is the “easiest way to care for one another”, Schallenberg appealed: “Make an appointment as soon as possible.” This also applies to the third stitch. “Get inside yourself, this is the way to break the wave “.

Mückstein calls for the end of the “winking carelessness”

Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein (Greens) emphasized that he had always seen it as his task to protect the intensive care units and that he would keep this promise. He also appealed to the people: “My daMen and gentlemen, we are in the same boat. Let’s stop the tongue-in-cheek carelessness. ”

Mückstein also emphasized hand hygiene: “Every disinfectant dispenser is a place of charity. “
