TikTok participates in ‘World Creator Festival @Busan’ as an exclusive partner for two consecutive years
TikTok, a global short-form video platform, announced on the 8th that the ‘World Creator Festival @Busan’, which was held in Busan City from the 4th to the 7th and was hosted and organized by Busan Metropolitan City and the Busan Tourism Organization, ended successfully. Following last year, TikTok participated as the sole partner of the ‘World Creator Festival @Busan’ for the second year in a row.
For this festival, TikTok invited over 130 teams of TikTok creators from 11 countries, including Korea, Australia, the United States, Japan, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, to Busan. Overseas creators with ties to Korea include Elio, an American creator who became a hot topic with a performance video of Harvard University’s a cappella club; Dima, an Emirati creator who reviews various Korean dramas and introduces famous spots in them; and Tai Po Korean, a Taiwanese creator who produces Korean education content. Not only creators, but also famous creators with strong global fandoms, such as Vietnamese beauty creator Seein with 15.8 million followers and Korean creator Grepacheri with 12.1 million followers, visited Busan. During the festival, creators traveled throughout Busan to create content and communicate in real time with the TikTok community of 1 billion people around the world, vividly conveying Busan’s diverse charms.
TikTok prepared a ‘Mission Tour’ program at this festival to encourage creators to produce a variety of content. Creators teamed up to collaborate and interact, visit various areas of Busan and perform given missions, adding to the fun of group tours and allowing content creation to be enjoyed like a game.
In addition, during the free tour time after the mission tour, the creators creatively captured the diverse charms of Busan by visiting not only Busan’s representative tourist attractions such as Huinnyeoul Culture Village and Dadaepo Beach, but also hidden attractions. In particular, content introducing Busan’s delicious restaurants and unique culture caught the attention of many people and contributed to promoting Busan’s various tourist attractions, including cultural tourism and gastronomic tourism, to the world.
In addition, TikTok supported the exchange of creators by holding ‘Creator Night’, a party to end the festival on the 6th. Creators attended Creator Night wearing traditional costumes from each country and heated up the party. TikTok holds award ceremonies in 9 categories, including ‘Festival October’, ‘Best Food’, ‘Best View’, and ‘Best Collaboration’, selects excellent content in each category and awards awards along with a plaque, allowing creators to create creative content. We encouraged them to continue production.
Thanks to this festival, more than 1,600 contents were produced using the hashtags #BusanWalkFestival and #WorldCreatorFestival, once again proving TikTok’s influence in leading global trends. In fact, global interest in Busan has increased due to the active activities of creators during the festival, and content produced in various languages is rapidly spreading through TikTok.
Jeong Jae-hoon, head of operations at TikTok Korea, said, “Continuing from last year, we are pleased to be able to promote the diverse charms of Busan to the world with creative creators this year.” He added, “On TikTok, various Korean products such as K-pop, K-drama, and K-food are available.” As culture spreads, interest in Korean culture is increasing, and as Busan is a representative tourist city, it is a city with various charms as a travel destination. “We will not miss out on this trend and will spare no effort in collaborating with and supporting the local community to spread Busan’s hidden charms and travel tips to the 1 billion TikTok users around the world.”
