Want to get fit but without too much stress? Then Cozy Cardio might be exactly what you’ve been looking for.

For many of us, doing sport usually means exhausting yourself, pushing yourself to the limit or at least a lot of sweat, stress and effort. Often these effects are exactly the reason why we stop doing it or don’t start it at all. Now, however, there is a solution that is currently spreading as a trend via Tiktok: Cozy Cardio, i.e. relaxed, almost comfortable exercise.

“‘Cozy Cardio’ is understood to mean a relaxed and, according to one’s own opinion, pleasant endurance training,” says Daniel Kaptain, lecturer at the German University for Prevention and Health Management DHfPG/BSA Academy, describing the trend, as described by the specialist magazine “Kicker” via DPA quoted.

Tiktok trend popularized by Hope Zuckerbrow

The term “cozy cardio” was popularized by Paradise, Texas-based social media influencer Hope Zuckerbrow, CNN summarizes. “I realized I needed to heal my relationship with exercise,” Zuckerbrow said in conversation with CNN. “Exercise was no longer fun and I only exercised to lose weight, not to feel good or be healthy. I wanted to inspire joy in movement.”

That’s exactly what it’s about, because “exercise should feel good and, above all, create a balance to the stressful and fast-paced everyday life. A little self-love ritual,” as “Kicker” puts it, that you can look forward to. “Whether it’s a run in nature or half an hour on the ergometer at home. What it’s not about: going beyond your own limits, getting your heart rate up, torturing yourself.”

But does that actually mean anything? In the best case scenario, it ensures that we get involved in sport again and perhaps even dare to do even more intensive exercises in the future – completely voluntarily and without feelings of stress. “If leisurely cardio is your first step toward building up to a higher intensity, that’s excellent,” says fitness specialist Nick Occhipinti, assistant professor of anatomy at Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey, in an interview with CNN. After all, exercising doesn’t necessarily mean ” that sweat is dripping everywhere and your heart is racing,” he adds.

In any case, even the most grumpy of sports should probably have no problem with this comfortable, even low-threshold type of sport. Here we go!
