Shapiro claimed that she was forced to tape safety pamphlets to her window to create shade, as the airline supposedly did not include window shades on the eight-hour international flight.
Shapiro’s video quickly went viral, garnering over 4.1 million views. In the video, she can be seen using tape to stick a Delta flight-safety booklet to the window next to her seat. Along with the video, she expressed her disbelief at the situation, calling it “insane.”
“I used to be a very loyal Delta customer, but this was just insane,” Shapiro wrote in the video’s caption. She also mentioned that she had to remove the tape before landing in the US, as she was told that “management would be upset.”
In a follow-up TikTok, Shapiro clarified that the window did not have a tint option and further addressed the lack of response from the flight attendant. “The first stewardess was very rude to us, very dismissive,” she said. “I need to sleep. I cannot be on this flight with a 1,000 degree temperature and no window shade for eight hours.”
Shapiro expressed frustration over the situation, particularly since she had paid around $2,000 for her ticket. She also mentioned that she did not bring tape with her on the flight and had to rely on a friendly flight attendant who provided the tape and safety booklet.
