TIM and ANM (Azienda Napoletana Mobilità), in partnership with Qualcomm, have announced the first “connected” Tram in Naples. The experimentation of the Connected Tram project at the service of the city is underway, based on Cloud Mobility solutions, which will involve the ANM Tram 4 in a first phase, offering passengers infotainment and 5G connectivity solutions on the section from Corso S. Giovanni a Teduccio to Town Hall for three weeks. The solution, developed by TIM Enterprise using Noovle for Cloud and edge computing solutions, was created for the provision of advanced connectivity and infotainment services to users of transport services. The project was presented by Nicola Pascale, CEO of ANM, and Alfredo Nulli, Head of Portfolio & Center of Excellence at Noovle. Thanks to an infotainment portal shown on board the tram on 16: 9 screens, also accessible via smartphone using the free 5G Wi-Fi network on board, passengers will be able to have access in real time to geolocated information on means of transport, news, weather, historical pills, places and points of interest.

TIM’s cloud and 5G services can also be used in a second phase for data collection with a smart analytics system in the sensor field, integrating them into the TIM Urban Genius platform for smart cities. In this way it will be possible to provide information on the near and remote context of any vehicle, collect passenger data such as attendance and ticketing, and integrate further data and alerts from sensors of the urban context. “The technological solution developed for ANM is one of the applications that TIM Enterprise is introducing to promote digital transformation and innovation in various areas thanks to digital services on smart cities, immersive tourism and the automotive sector, based on the combination of cloud technologies , artificial intelligence and 5G connectivity, “said the telecommunications company.
