After Easter, all being well, the announcement for the expansion of the Emergency Department of the University General Hospital of Ioannina is expected, with the aim of selecting a contractor by the end of the summer.
This timetable was set as a goal by the acting administrator of PGNI, Spyros Derdemezis, during the meeting that the members of the board of directors had with the Deputy Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, MP of Ioannina, Maria Kefala.
This is an ambitious project, in order to solve the important spatial and operational problems of a unit, which is at the “heart” of the Hospital’s operation, utilizing the funds of the Recovery Fund, which means that all procedures from here on must be very fast .
And this is because in the previous period and until the final decisions were made on the amount of funding for the project, a lot of time was lost. At the same time, of course, the reduction of the physical object was required, so that the initial study of 12 million euros could be adjusted to the 4.6 million available from the Recovery Fund.
The services of the hospital are currently in this phase, as well as the TAIPED, which is the one that will initiate the tendering procedures for the project. The relevant agencies made the relevant adjustments to the new financial data and the TAIPED will complete the specifications in order to announce the project with the study-build method, a process that requires time.
For her part, Mrs. Kefala noted that the expansion of the TEP is a commonly accepted necessity. “The TEP project went through 40 waves. We must overcome the oversights and omissions of the previous period, and we must all cooperate so as not to miss this opportunity”, he noted, stressing that the necessary procedures must proceed quickly.
During the meeting, personnel issues were also raised, with Mr. Derdemezis pointing out the need to retain all the auxiliary staff, whose contracts expire at the end of the year, given that the entire 4The building, but also other parts of the Hospital have not been recorded in the Organization, which has been in force since 2012.
