The Appellate Division postponed the order of the application seeking suspension of the order to suspend the broadcast of private television channels for seven days due to the illness of a judge.

The Appellate Bench headed by Chief Justice Syed Refat Ahmed set the date for the order on Tuesday (August 27).

At the hearing on this day, Ahsanul Karim, the senior lawyer of Time Media Limited, said that Time TV has been on air since last night. Therefore this case is no longer viable. At that time Ahmed Jobair’s lawyer Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon and Barrister Shakib Mahbub told the court that Time TV was not closed by the government’s decision, it was closed by the court’s decision. It involves the question of freedom of speech. Therefore, the Appellate Division needs to be observed in this regard. The Appellate Division then fixed September 1 for the order.

Last August 10, the meeting of the Board of Directors of Zahama Media Limited was held at the City House of Gulshan. Time TV’s new managing director was appointed there.

According to a notice sent to the media, according to the decision of the board of directors, Ahmed Zobair has been relieved from the position of managing director and chief executive of Time Television. Besides, director Shampa Rahman has been given the responsibility as managing director. All the activities of Samham Media Limited will be conducted under the guidance of the new managing director.

Challenging the validity of this exemption, Ahmed Jobair filed a writ petition in the company bench of the High Court on August 14.

On August 19, the High Court ordered the suspension of TV broadcasting for seven days. The next day, Ahmed Zobair applied to the Appellate Division Chamber Court seeking suspension of this order.

The Chamber court fixed today for the hearing of the appeal in the Appellate Division seeking suspension of the order to suspend the broadcast of TV for seven days on August 21.
