Time to stop the National Film Awards: Adoor – KERALA – GENERAL

by time news

Thiruvananthapuram: Director Adoor Gopalakrishnan has said that it is time to end the National Film Awards. He was speaking after awarding the 30th Aravindan Award of the Film Society to Sanujon Varghese.

The jury consists of people who have never seen the film. The permanent award is for films of the same format. There is no chance for good films to survive today. Those in power are interested in Bollywood movies. Actor Ashok Kumar, who was a jury member, fell asleep right after my film started at a national awards venue. Later, he took a strong position not to give the award to that film. It was revealed to me by a member of that jury – Adoor said. The National Film Development Corporation has become a den of waste and corruption. Adoor Gopalakrishnan also alleged that the government’s position is that no history of films should be kept in the National Film Archives.

As part of celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the movie ‘Swayamvaram’, the Film Society honored G. Rajmohan Adoor. Sunny Joseph Aravindan delivered the memorial lecture. Film critic and jury member Vijayakrishnan, T. Krishnanunni, architect G. Shankar and others participated. Also organized the screening of Sanujon Varghese’s award-winning movie Aar Khada.
