Time traveler (YouTube Top Ten photo)

Facebook users spotted a strange-looking guy in a black-and-white photo from the 1940s, where he appeared to be using a device that was too technologically advanced for the time the photo was taken.

The mystery begins in 1943 in Reykjavik, Iceland, where the suspicious figure is seen around deployed American soldiers during World War II, according to a publication by The Sun.

But this man does not seem to be part of the army. Instead, he stands out by wearing a light-colored trench coat while holding his hand close to his ear like using a modern cell phone.

It didn’t take long for social media to start burning around the unclear photo with many users speculating that the man must be a time traveller.

First posted in the Icelandic Facebook group Gamlar fotografir by user Kristjan Hoffmann in 2016 – reads: “One thing that draws attention to this beautiful photo is in 2016 – reads: “One thing that draws attention to this beautiful photo is that above this beautiful photo. A window, in the corner in the middle of the picture, a man is leaning and he is on a cell phone,” the outlet said.

“I don’t know what to say, I don’t think he’s just talking on the phone… He’s crazy, standing alone and wearing a different headdress than the others and a scarf and acting like we would today,” Hoffman added.

Another user, Karolina Fitursdóttir, even evoked a resemblance to “Dr. Who”, according to the “Mirror”.

Beyond the old niche photo group, the photo found its way into a YouTube conspiracy theory video titled “10 True Cases of Time Travel That Can’t Be Explained.”

Surprisingly, a theory that the man was acting as a spy for the Axis powers was not offered by any party involved.

Instead, those with more reasoned philosophies in the Facebook group insisted he was just checking to see if his watch was working.

Others said he simply used a tobacco pipe and went to scratch his ear while the picture was taken.
