The defendant is an extension of PT Refined Bangka Tin related to a corruption case in the management of tin commodity trading in the mining business permit area of ​​PT Timah Tbk. in 2015-2022.

The charges against Harvey Moeis were delivered by public prosecutor (JPU) Ardito Muwardi at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Wednesday (14/8).

“The defendant has committed or participated in committing an unlawful act that has harmed state finances,” said Ardito Muwardi as reported by Antara.

For his actions, Harvey Moeis is threatened with criminal penalties under Article 2 paragraph (1) or Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) point 1 of the Criminal Code and Article 4 of Law Number 8 of 2010 concerning the Prevention and Eradication of TPPU.

The Public Prosecutor explained that Harvey Moeis’ corruption was initially committed by holding a meeting with the President Director of PT Timah Tbk. Mochtar Riza Pahlevi and the Director of Operations of PT Timah Alwin Albar and 27 private smelter owners.

The meeting was to discuss Mochtar and Alwin’s request for tin ore amounting to 5 percent of the export quota of various private smelters.

The demand is because the tin ore exported by private smelters is the result of production sourced from illegal mining in the mining business permit (IUP) area of ​​PT Timah.
