Tineco FLOOR ONE S7 PRO in the test: If you take the person responsible from the company Tineco cannot blame something, then it is probably a standstill. The manufacturer of smart household appliances is constantly working on new products and features to make our everyday lives easier – especially in the area of cleaning, where you can use the FLOOR ONE S7 PRO now leading the new spearhead of cordless vacuum cleaners.
There is no question that cleaning robots are already doing a lot of the work for us, but even modern devices quickly reach their limits when it comes to stubborn stains or wiping up liquids. In most households, the good old mop is probably still used regularly, but it is much more convenient with the devices from Tineco’s FLOOR ONE series.
At its core, the S7 PRO is a well thought-out cleaning device that is able to vacuum and wipe at the same time and is battery-operated and therefore wireless.
The same can of course also be said about the predecessor, but since the S5 PRO 2 there has been a lot of technical improvement. In order to be able to convince ourselves of this, the manufacturer kindly provided us with a device for testing purposes.
The surprisingly compact package contains the vacuum wiper in two parts (main unit and handpiece), a charging station and power cable, two accessory holders, an additional brush roll and a dry filter as a replacement, a cleaning brush, a 500ml bottle with the in-house cleaning solution and of course the multilingual instructions .
The assembly is done quickly:
Simply attach the handle to the main device until you hear an audible click, insert the accessory holders into the matching recesses of the charging station, connect the power cord, done.
As we are used to from Tineco, the workmanship makes an excellent impression, the device itself looks valuable and with the shiny company name on the front it is quite classy. In our opinion, the surface structure of the torso, which is vaguely reminiscent of wood, would not have been necessary – a matter of taste.
As far as the 1.50 meter long power cable allows, the 30 x 32 cm charging station can be positioned anywhere in the room. The suction wiper is simply placed on the base for charging and only needs around four to five hours for a full charging cycle of the 3,900 mAh battery.
According to the manufacturer, the FLOOR ONE S7 PRO offers a runtime of up to 40 minutes with a full battery.
After we first fully charged the vacuum wiper as described in the instructions, which was commented on by a female voice that is much too loud from the factory, which sounds from a loudspeaker on the handle, after switching on we are familiarized with the functions of the S7 PRO using an interactive tutorial made.
The smart household helper also shows off its generously dimensioned 3.6-inch LCD screen, on which a cute little man foolproof guides us through the commissioning in several animated lessons.
At the same time, another new feature also stands out, as we can now navigate through the programs using a keypad on the handle as conveniently as we are used to with a remote control. For a vacuum wiper that makes quite a difference.
We use the arrow keys to select one of four suction modes, switch the practical LED lighting on the brush head on or off, select the language and reduce the volume (!) or call up the interactive instructions and tips again at any time.
On the other side of the handle there is also a button for muting, language selection and WLAN connection, on the head of the handle a button for self-cleaning completes the operating sequence.
We are now learning how to use the buttons, how to remove the two tanks and how the device works in general. In addition, the software also provides us with tips for care and maintenance or for connecting to the Tineco app on the smartphone.
As instructed, we first fill the 0.8 liter fresh water tank, add a capful of the cleaning solution and start the suction wiper by tilting the device backwards – if we put it upright again, the cleaning process stops.
We already know the principle from the older models, but during our first cleaning process, a new, extremely cool feature is immediately noticeable: The wheels at the back of the brush head are not just motorized to give the device, which weighs five kilos, propulsion, they also adapt to our movements.
So instead of working against the tires as before when you pull the suction wiper backwards, the bi-directional wheels change direction as needed.
The force with which the wheels support this work can be adjusted in three stages in the app. We recommend experimenting with the different settings, as we found the high default setting to be too intense and left visible marks after the first cleaning run.
But after we had reduced the running speed a bit, we enthusiastically pulled the device back and forth again and again just to enjoy this useful function.
Our grown-up self also noticed the improved cleaning head, in which the brush roller now occupies almost the entire width of 26.5 cm and thus enables precise edge cleaning of just under one centimeter.
