Dresden / Berlin – The AfD parliamentary group leader Tino Chrupalla (46) has Corona.

Chrupalla, who was born in Saxony, tested positive for Covid-19 and is currently in quarantine at home. The group announced on Friday.

“Mr. Chrupalla can therefore not take part in the constituent session of the German Bundestag on October 26,” said the announcement. The politician’s quarantine has been going on for a few days. So far, nothing has been known about further infections in the group.

Co-group leader Alice Weidel tested negative for the virus, according to a spokesman, and will attend the meeting. During the election campaign, she repeatedly stressed that she was not vaccinated against Covid-19.

Chrupalla, who is also party leader, had recently forbidden questions about his vaccination status in interviews. Weidel and Chrupalla had criticized several times that pressure was exerted on people who had not been vaccinated. AfD federal chief Tino Chrupalla had defended his direct mandate in the federal election in the constituency of Görlitz.
