Tinoka Roberto Raharoarilala, former Minister of Youth and Sports, was appointed Consul General of Madagascar in Reunion in the Council of Ministers yesterday. Like Espérance Pelandroy Arnaud, former secretary general of the presidency of the Republic, or Baomiavotse Vahinala Raharinirina, former chief of staff of the presidency, this fellow traveler of Andry Rajoelina, was not idle long after his non-renewal in the Ntsay government.

The former MP for Sakaraha was appointed Minister of Youth and Sports in 2019. He was subsequently reassigned to the Ministry of Transport and Meteorology but after his disgrace in this post he was recalled to the Ministry of Sports. During the mini-reshuffle in February, Tinoka Roberto Raharoarilala was finally dismissed from the government, replaced by André Haja Resampa, the former secretary general of the Transition’s presidency. During his transfer of power with Haja Resampa, the former minister said he had another mission: to prepare the re-election of Andry Rajoelina, in his stronghold in Toliara.

This surprise appointment thus sounds like a sidelining of the national secretary of the TGV in the province of Toliara from the political scene a few months before the presidential election.
