A riot broke out on the Udumalai road in Tarapuram, Tiruppur district, when the tire of a vehicle carrying school children came off and ran on the road. More than 10 children survived the crash with minor injuries.
Vivekam High School school van tire suddenly came off the road coming from Tarapuram Udumalai road in Tiruppur district towards Ponnapuram area on Pollachi road. More than 15 of these children were treated at a private hospital with minor injuries and sent home. This incident has caused great concern to the parents.
CCTV footage of the incident has been released. Following this, the parents demanded that “the vehicles in the Tarapuram and all surrounding schools and colleges should be inspected and used after the quality certificate is issued by the Regional Transport Officer”.
