Italian captain Michele Lamaro spoke at a press conference after the narrow defeat in Rome against England (27-24) on the first day of the 2024 Six Nations Tournament. “It’s hard, we’re tired of coming so close to victory and not winning, underlined the third line of Treviso. We cannot be satisfied with that (…) We want to be more dominant, more decisive, stronger, more precise, to maintain the advantage we had and even increase it. We cannot concede so many points without scoring, as we did in the second half (…) We fell into their game after the break, they deprived us of the ball. We have to look forward now, continue working and we will eventually achieve our goal.”
Italy recorded its 31st defeat against England in as many matches, but the one conceded on Saturday was the shortest in its history against the XV de la Rose.
