The coach of Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti, anticipated this Friday (12) that he will spare the “tired” players on Saturday against Getafe, for the 34th round of the Spanish Championshipbefore the second leg of the semifinals of the Europe Champions League against Manchester Citybut promised to field a “competitive team”.
“We have some concerns with players who took hits on Tuesday (contra o City, 1 a 1), who still haven’t recovered: Benzema, Rodrygo, Alaba…”, explained Ancelotti at a press conference.
“Mendy and Ceballos return, who can play tomorrow”, added the coach, reiterating that the doubtful players will be “reassessed”.
“I’m not going to risk it because we have fresh players, but it will be a game that will demand a lot from us. It’s an opponent that fights not to fall, so it will be a demanding game and we need energy”, he stated.
“I want to preserve the players who are tired, but the available ones will play. Tomorrow’s team will be very competitive”, highlighted Ancelotti, who gave no further clues about the lineup against Getafe.
However, the Italian coach stressed that the changes have nothing to do with next Wednesday’s game in Manchester.
“The players who are in doubt will not play and those who play will have all the time to recover. We have four days to recover”, concluded Ancelotti.
